Suryakumar Yadav will miss the T20I series as we watch the best-anticipated 11 play for India team for the 2022 T20I series against Sri Lanka.
After a successful 3-0 showdown in the recently concluded ODI and T20I series against the West Indies, the Indian team is now gearing up for its likely favorite opponent, Sri Lanka. The island neighbors are one team to which the Indian team always comes back when it comes to playing the stop-gap series.
It was only in July last year that India played the full ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. While this was the case with the parallel B team, India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma is now preparing for the T20I and Test series. The 3-match T20I series, which begins Feb. 24, will be followed by a 2-match test series set to begin March 4.
From the team’s perspective, the Indian team sees a lot of change compared to the team that played against the West Indies a few days ago. While Virat Kohli, Shardul Thakur and Rishabh Pant are resting, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Sanja Samson are returning to the team. In addition, recent injury concerns have ruled out Suryakumara Yadava and Deepak Chahar from the T20I series.

So with the kind of team that Team India has in place, what can best be predicted to be playing 11 for Team India for 2022. 1. T20I against Sri Lanka? Let’s find out in this article. Meanwhile, according to Betway, India starts as the favorite to win the 1st T20I game with odds in their favor. For India to win, the odds are 7/1. While for the victory of Sri Lanka, the odds are 4/1.
Scheduled to play 11 for Team India
openers: Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan
In the absence of KL Rahul, who is currently out of the team due to injury, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will continue to open for the Indian team for the 1st T20I. The pair also opened the final series with Ishan showing a worse performance. He could score a meager 71 runs from 83 balls – that’s a hit rate of less than 100 in the T20I.
Interestingly, in the absence of Suryakumara Yadava, India now has only 5 specialized strikers on the team. So if India decides to play all 5, we can see Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan opening innings with Rohit Sharma playing in the midfield. However, this seems unlikely for the 1st T20I.
middle row: Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer
The absence of Virat Kohli and Rishabha Panta gives Sanja Samson another chance to excel in international cricket. Considered an extreme talent, it was always difficult for Sanja Samson to start international cricket. But against a team like Sri Lanka, this could once again be an opportunity for him to leave a mark.
Support for Sanju will be Shreyas Iyer, who appears to be the only major midfielder on the team in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rishabha Panta and Suryakumara Yadava. He would have a big role because hitting under Shreyas is a bit inexperienced. Also, an important opportunity for him to prove that he is not just a reserve player.
All-around: Deepak Hood, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja
The main question for the Indian team would be whether to play Ruturaj Gaikwad as the opener at the top with Rohit playing in midfield, or to play Deepak Hoode as the finisher with Rohit Sharma who continues to play at the top for the top two T20I at least. Most likely India does not want Rohit to play in the middle row until the series is secured. So expect Deepak Hood to debut today.
Apart from Deepak, India would be very happy to welcome the return of Ravindra Jadeja. The top Indian all-rounder missed several sets due to injury but has now returned in full force. Along with Venkatesh Iyer, who is in brilliant form, Ravindra Jadeja increases the depth of Indian striking.
Given the current status of the team, which is deprived of so many key players, there is another option Rohit Sharma can come up with for 11 players. which hit 7. Of course, this seems like a slightly strained option.
bowlers: Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal
Coming to bowling, the Indian team will be strengthened by the return of Jasper Bumrah. After a break in the previous series, Jasprit Bumrah would serve as deputy captain. He would organize a deadly bowling attack along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal.
However, India would miss the services of Ravi Bishnoi for the 1st T20I, who did very well in his debut series. Bishnoi can still be played if India opts for him before Yuzvendra Chahal. But since he is the main spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal should play the 1st T20I.
So, it completes the best predicted game of 11 for the Indian team for the 1st T20I against Sri Lanka. In general, there would be a discussion of several players to form a strong 11. It would be interesting to see what kind of thought process Rohit Sharma brings to the table.
