N’Golo Kante played a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph in the 2020/21 campaign, as the Frenchman was named the midfielder of the season in the competition.
He made four appearances for the best player in the knockout phase, three of which were awarded in two semi-finals against Real Madrid and in the final against Manchester City.
So what exactly inspired Kante to perform magnificently in the Champions League final? Well, we discovered a mystery.
Nasi Lemak, Kante’s favorite food and the secret of the triumph in the Champions League?
Three days before leaving for Lisbon, Portugal, where she will play in the Champions League final, the Chelsea star stopped by a restaurant on Craven Road in London, called Tukdin, which specializes in Malaysian cuisine.
Kante ordered takeaway food for Nasi Lemak which is his favorite food. The head chef and other restaurant staff did not miss the opportunity to click photos with the French star in front of the restaurant after he took the order.
Tukdin’s head chef, Syed Fauzi, recounted the incident while speaking to the Malaysian newspaper New Strait Times. He said: “It was just before closing and my sister (Nurul Ulya, who is also the manager of the restaurant) sent a message that N’golo Kanté is in our restaurant.”
Fauzi then asked his sister to ask the footballer to click some pictures with them, which the humble Kante kindly accepted.
Reportedly, Kante is a regular visitor to the restaurant where he occasionally enjoys a plate of Nasi Lemak.
