Manchester United suffer a transfer blow while Bayern Munich prepare an offer for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer
According to a football journalist Fabrizio Romano on TwitterBayern Munich are preparing an offer to provide the services of midfielder RB Leipzig Konrad Laimer in the upcoming summer transfer window, with manager Julian Nagelsmann enthusiastic about the player.
Sun claims it will be a big transfer blow for Manchester United, who were interested in signing the Austrian at the end of the season to bolster his midfield. A major renovation of the club is expected in the summer, and Laimer is a possible target of the transfer.
The 24-year-old has been an excellent servant of Leipzig over the years in midfield, since his relocation from RB Salzburg 2017. This term on the coup won the Bundesliga and attracted the attention of several clubs that want to kidnap him in the summer.
It looks like the Red Devils will open a checkbook at the end of the season and bring in extras to a team that failed to start during the current campaign. They are unlikely to finish in the top four in the Premier League, as their dreams of qualifying for the Champions League have been shattered.
“I know him well and I know what he can do”
Laimer may have been the player the Manchester team wanted to play away at Leipzig ahead of the new term, but Romano has revealed that Bayern are putting together an initial offer worth between 18 to 20 million to persuade their German rivals to sell the player.
However, United might take advantage of their ties to Ralf Rangnick to persuade the Austrian national team player to choose them instead of the Bavarian giant. The interim head of the English club should become the new manager of the Austrian national team in the summer, and Laimer recently spoke about his happiness about working under a coach.
“I am very happy that he will be our coach. I know him well and I know what he can do. ”
Rangnick’s upcoming departure in the coming weeks paved the way for the arrival of Erik ten Hague from Ajax Amsterdam, who should replace the German as United’s next permanent manager. He is expected to transform the Red Devils once he takes over, starting with an overhaul of the team. Rangnick, meanwhile, had ties to Laimer’s current club.
The midfield has long been an obvious weakness of the side, and the current set of options was often sad when they went out on the field in big games. The team has no one to rely on to push the side forward in attack or effectively protect the defense.

Laimer could prove to be a useful addition to Old Trafford ahead of the new season. However, Leipzig wants to keep his services for a long time and will fight to keep him, even though his contract expires for 2023. Bayern will also prove to be tough competition for United as they try to fight the Bundesliga club for the player’s signature in the summer.
The Munich side can offer him the comfort of staying in Germany and moving to a bigger and more successful club, while the Manchester team offers him the opportunity for a new challenge in England. Only time will tell which of the clubs will eventually win the transfer battle, if the current team lets him go at all.
