Pro Kabaddi League: Monu Goyat helps Patna Pirates defeat the Bengal Warriors

The Patna Pirates came from behind to stun title defender Bengal Warriors 43-29 in a Pro Kabaddi League game, here on Friday. The win pushed Patna Pirates to second place in the points table as the Bengal Warriors stood in eighth place.

Talisman striker Monu Goyat played great for Kabaddi, scoring seven points in one attack in the match. The Patna Pirates started with a bang, collecting attack points through Sachin and Prashantha Kumar, but were soon found to want more against Maninder Singh of the Bengal Warriors.

Maninder, the star striker, did his best as he left the Pirates looking for answers from all sides of the mat. He picked up points at will and overcame all defensive tactics to get back to his half in an instant with each passing attack.

Patna’s defensive tactics also seemed to be in place for the first few minutes as the Bengal Warriors struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. Maninder was the one who helped the defending champions pick up the lead at 11-9 when he sent Monu Goyat and Mohammadrez Chiyaneh to the bench in one attack. He soon sent Prashantha Kumar on the road in his next attack as the Bengal Warriors opened up a four-point lead.

The Patna Pirates lost their way and found all their players on the mat while the Bengal Warriors led a healthy 16-10. Maninder entered his Super 10 when he escaped from Chiyaneh’s ankle while the defending defenders began charging shots with an eight-point lead.

Sachin and Monu Goyat then tried to bring Patna back into the game as they slowly tried to close the gap with bonus points and running, but Bengal scored at half-time with a score of 21-16. However, the Bengal Warriors picked up their defensive play after a break when Amit caught Sachin in a thigh grip.

Patna Pirates was slowly trying to get into the game, reducing the gap to just three points, through Neeraj Kumar and Monu Goyat, who scored his 500th point of attack.

Neeraj did well in the defensive game, he tackled Risanka Devadig, and Mona was good in his attacks, he went deep and scored a bonus point.

The moment of Maninder’s failure when he came out of the mat opened Patna to the Pirates and they tried to take advantage of that. Since then it has been the Patna Pirates show as they tied the score at 25-25.

Patna Pirates soon took a four-point lead when Sachin reduced two Bengali defenders to size and inflicted a universal on defending champions. Maninder also looked rude as he fell on Chiyaneh’s defensive strategy as Bengal stared all over the sea.

Mona Goyat then led to a sensational seven-point attack as Patna Pirates took a 14-point lead at 39-25. In doing so, Mona also registered his Super 10 in the match. The lead grew with each passing attack as the Patna Pirates stamped their authority in the game as the Bengal Warriors exited the match without points.
