Rohit Sharma will lead as we watch the strongest projected team of 15 members for India’s team for the 2022 T20 World Cup.
When we talk about the T20 World Cup, the factor that influences the most when it comes to judging a player’s current form and player selection is the Indian Premier League. Since the founding of the IPL in 2008, the tournament has produced n number of players who not only played for the national team but also became successful.
Although the T20 2022 World Cup is almost 6 months away, needless to say, the 2022 IPL will play a major role in selecting players to be tested over the next 4-5 months before the October showdown. While regular international players can be judged based on their international performance, new and growing superstars will continue to be judged based on their IPL performance.
As of IPL 2022, we may have a potential roster of players who could be tested in the coming months, but we can still go ahead and identify a roster of 15 members who would make up the strongest team for India for the upcoming T20 2022 World Cup. based on the capabilities of the players, and their performance in recent years internationally as well as the IPL.
Typically, each international team, including the India team, will send a 15-member first-team selection and an additional 3 members for contingencies or injuries COVID-19. These 3 members will be added to the regular squad only in case of injuries or outbreaks of COVID-19. So, in this article we are looking at a primary team of 15 members and an additional 3 players as an unforeseen situation.
openers: KL Rahul & Rohit Sharma (C)
Book: Ishan Kishan
The beginners of the Indian team choose for themselves. On the one hand we have the captain of the Indian team, Rohita Sharma, on the other hand we have one of the most consistent T20 openers in the world, KL Rahula. Except for injuries, the duo should continue to open for the Indian team in all matches. Both are quality openers, and they complement each other quite well.
One may question the current form of Rohit Sharma in IPL 2022, but should that be a cause for concern? Well, not really. Rohit has not been the best in the IPL in recent years. Since 2017, he has passed 400 runs only once, but with the conviction of performing on the international stage. For quality players like Rohit Sharma, it’s just a good time in the middle and they’ll come out stronger.
Apart from these two, the Indian team could take Ishan Kishan to the final 15 instead of Shreyas Iyer, but unfortunately, Ishan Kishan was in terrible form in the IPL late. The Indian team may continue to keep him on the 18-member squad for the T20 World Cup, but at the moment, Shreyas Iyer deserves a place ahead of him. For the reserve opening spot the Indian team can play against Suryakumar Yadava or Virat Kohli if needed.
middle row: Dinesh Karthik (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK) & Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli
Coming to the middle row, the Indian team would designate Virat Kohli for No. 3 position with Rishabh Panta as the primary goalkeeper. These two were regular players of the T20I team, and without any questions they deserve a place. Again, the form of Virat Kohli in the IPL can be worrying, but expect the champion players to return as champions when they play for the state.
In addition to Virat Kolhi, Suryakumar Yadav is starting as a first-tier midfielder given his performance for the Indian team and in the IPL. If we talk about the first choice that plays 11, Kohli at 3, SKY at 4 and Pant at 5 make a perfect order. With Virat Kohli as an anchor, Pant and SKY can play the role of aggressor.
In addition, Dinesh Karthik was very good in the current IPL. Given that India needs a good finisher, Dinesh Karthik’s current form could be just what the Indian team needs. Whether he will play as the first place is yet to be seen, he has certainly created a strong argument for himself.
The final midfielder should mostly see Shreyas Iyer. The team may also remember Ishan Kishan, but given his current form and fight against short deliveries, it is ideal for the Indian team to continue with Shreyas Iyer as Iyer also showed good results for the India team and the IPL.
All-around: Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja
Given that Hardik Pandya is back in full shape and bowling well, he and Ravindra Jadeja will be the first all-rounders for the Indian team. Hardik’s bowling is a big plus. Between him and Ravindra Jadeja can fulfill the quota of 4 overs. Apart from them, we do not have quality versatility at our disposal. There are Venkatesh Iyer and Axar Patel, but it would be difficult for them to pass among the top 15.
Spinners: Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav
If we see the performance in IPL 2022, KulCha (Kuldeep & Chahal) are the best spinners, and with their current form they deserve to play together. When they played together, they always did well. However, of the two, Yuzvendra Chahal should be the main spinner on the team with Kuldeep supporting him. Apart from these two, India can look at Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel as other spin options.
Paceri: Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shamyes & T Natarajan
Reserve (s): Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur
As far as the pace is concerned, this is an area that should be considered to the maximum. Given that the T20 World Cup is 2022 in Australia, India would play with at least 3 front-line pacers in their 11. Of the selected group, the Indian team would need 2 pacers for Powerplay and Death Overs, and at least 1 pace for Middle overs .
If we look at the options, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami choose for themselves. Shami is a great Powerplay bowler, and Jasprit Bumrah is a bowler for all situations. In addition, T Natarajan would be a great addition to the team. He can excel in medium and deadly hopes. His yorkers are in the right place, and he has also improved his bowling for midfielders.
When we get to the last pacera, it would be a call between Shardul Thakur, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel. Of the three, Shardul Thakur and Bhuvi have more experience and can strike. But Harshal Patel brings with him the x-factor, and in the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and T Natarajan, he may be an advantage in playing 11. The Indian team should certainly seek to take him to Australia.
T20 2022 World Cup – The strongest squad for the Indian team:
dough: Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli
weeks: Dinesh Karthik, KL Rahul & Rishabh Pant
All-around: Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja
bowlers: Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, T Natarajan & Yuzvendra Chahal
Coach: Rahul Dravid // Captain: Rohit Sharma // Deputy Captain: KL Rahul
Additional 3 contingency reserves COVID-19:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur
In the fight for the T20 World Cup 2022:
Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Deepak Chahar, Prithvi Shaw, Ravi Bishnoi, Sanju Samson, Venkatesh Iyer, Umran Malik and Washington Sundar.
So that completes the predicted squad for the Indian team for the 2020 T20 World Cup. We should see at least 10-11 players in the final 15 of the above. Those to be discussed would be Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel Kuldeep Yadav and T Natarajan.
