Every season since Pro Kabaddi League it is full of fun matches in which practically every match is set and records are broken. The eighth season of the competition also justifies its reputation.
As the third week begins, one of the best records in the tournament has already been set. In just 53 games, Naveen Kumar became the fastest striker in Pro Kabaddi League history, scoring 600 points. However, he left behind two players who previously held the record.
Let’s look at the first three fastest players who reached 600 points in the least number of matches:
Maninder Singh, considered one of the best strikers in Pro Kabaddi League history, started his career with the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the inaugural season of the competition and is now captain of the Bengal Warriors. In just 68 games, Maninder exceeded the 600-point mark.
He collected 843 points for the attack. The right-hander is known for his ability to surpass the opponent’s defense. Players are often confused by his fast pace and controlled technique. Naveen currently holds the record for earning 500 attack points in the shortest time (56 matches). He has already scored 100 points in just eight games this season.
Pardeep Narwal, dubbed the “King of the Deep” by the PKL, began his career with Patna Pirates, where he led them to three consecutive titles. He is currently a member of UP Yoddhe, who bought him at auction for a record amount. In just 63 games, Pardeep Narwal became the first player to score 600 points.
In 2016 and 2017, he was named the most useful player. In 2017 and 2018, he was also named the best striker. He set a record for the most mega attacks in a single season in Season 6.
Naveen Kumar dubbed the “Naveen Express” was the most prominent player in the 8th season of the Pro Kabaddi League. The child surprised the Kabaddi world with his extraordinary talent. As mentioned earlier, he became the fastest player to reach 600 points, in just 53 games. In his first season, Naveen scored 177 points in 22 games, including eight Super 10s, and was the team’s top scorer.
He also became the youngest player in the league to score a Super 10 in league history. The 2018 season has already hinted at what awaits us in the next term. The seventh season of PKL started in 2019, and it was another year of Naveen’s achievements, because his team kept him and scored 301 points in the attack in only 23 matches. He had a total of 22 Super 10s, 21 of which came in a row, making him the only player to achieve that in one season.
In the current season, he is the leading scorer of the team and the tournament. Having scored so much at such a young age, no team or defense would want to be caught off guard by such a powerful player, showing that Naveen has established himself as one of the league’s most feared leaders.
